Connect: The Language of Touch Workshop

Connect: The Language of Touch Workshop

Touch can communicate comfort, care, affection, hesitation, pressure, or disconnection—often before we ever say a word.

Join Health in Tandem and Aaron Gunn Wellness for a two-hour experiential workshop designed to help individuals better understand touch as a form of communication, regulation, and connection.

Led by Hannah Wojda, LCPC, and Aaron Gunn, LMT, this workshop will explore consent, pacing, nervous system safety, body awareness, pressure, intention, and feedback through guided education and structured exercises.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Notice physical and emotional responses to different forms of touch

  • Identify what feels comfortable, supportive, or overwhelming

  • Practice communicating preferences and boundaries clearly

  • Learn language for offering feedback and requesting adjustments

  • Explore how pacing, pressure, and intention affect the experience of touch

  • Practice safe, non-sexual touch in a supportive environment

All touch-based exercises will be structured and supervised. Comfortable, loose-fitting, non-revealing clothing is recommended.

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop may be a good fit for you if you:

  • Want to better understand your comfort, preferences, and boundaries around touch

  • Feel unsure how to ask for changes, decline touch, or communicate when something does not feel right

  • Are neurodivergent or have sensory sensitivities that affect how you experience touch

  • Work in healthcare, caregiving, massage, bodywork, movement, or another profession where touch is part of your role

  • Want to become more aware of nonverbal cues, consent, pacing, pressure, and nervous system safety

  • Feel disconnected from your body or have difficulty noticing physical sensations until they become intense

  • Want to feel more confident giving and receiving non-sexual touch in everyday relationships

How to Register

After your questionnaire has been reviewed, you will receive an email letting you know whether space is available and providing instructions for submitting payment. Your registration is not complete, and your spot is not reserved, until payment has been received.

The cost of this workshop is $125 per participant.

Space is limited to 10 participants. If the workshop is full, you may request to be added to the waitlist and will be contacted if a space becomes available.

Cancellations are eligible for a refund when requested at least one week before the workshop. Payments are nonrefundable after August 16, 2026.

Coming Fall 2026: DBT-Informed Trauma Processing Group

DBT-Informed Trauma Processing Group

New upcoming group led by Anadil Siddiqi, LPC! This group is currently being planned. The group will begin in fall 2026, will meet on a weekday evening, either virtually or in person. Additional details will be shared as plans are finalized.

Group Description

Past trauma can continue to shape how you feel, relate to others, and respond to stress long after the experience has ended. You may notice that certain situations bring up strong emotions, that it is hard to feel safe or connected, or that coping strategies you once needed are no longer helping in the same way.

This 10-session group offers a supportive space to better understand how trauma may be showing up in your life and to begin building new ways of responding. It is open to adults with a history of emotional, physical, or sexual trauma that is no longer ongoing.

Together, we will explore how trauma can affect emotions, relationships, boundaries, self-worth, and the nervous system. Using trauma-informed care and skills from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, you will learn practical ways to manage intense emotions, feel more grounded, strengthen boundaries, and respond to yourself with greater compassion.

You will be invited to participate at a pace that feels manageable. There is no expectation that you share specific details of your trauma. The focus will be on helping you feel safer in your body, more connected to yourself and others, and better equipped to move through daily life with a greater sense of choice and stability.

Group Details

Who: Adults with a history of past emotional, physical, or sexual trauma
Length: 10 sessions
Group size: 6–8 participants
Dates: September through November - TBD
Time: Weekday evening - TBD
Location: TBD based on participant interest

Before joining, you will complete a brief prescreening form so we can better understand your needs and make sure the group is an appropriate source of support. The form will include questions about current safety concerns, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, and whether you are currently experiencing an ongoing traumatic situation.

Because this group is focused on processing past trauma, it may not be the right fit if you are currently experiencing abuse, violence, or another ongoing traumatic situation. In those circumstances, more individualized support and safety planning may be recommended first.
